NIGA University is committed to keeping an exceptional education within reach of qualified students from every background. The University was chartered to form public servants — and it would betray that purpose if cost alone decided who could be formed. Tuition is set on a sliding scale, and a substantial program of institutional aid is available on the basis of both demonstrated need and academic distinction.
Every admitted student is automatically considered for need-based assistance; no separate application is required beyond the financial information requested during admission. Merit awards, assistantships, and the University's service scholarships are described below, and the Office of Financial Aid is available to guide applicants and families through each option.
Types of Aid

Merit Scholarships
Recognizing academic distinction, leadership, and promise — awarded at admission across all ten schools.
Assistantships & Fellowships
Teaching and research assistantships and competitive fellowships that combine a tuition award with a stipend for graduate students.
Public Service Scholarships
Awards for students who commit to a period of service in Nicaraguan public institutions after graduation — the heart of the University's mission.
Sponsored & External Funding
Guidance on government, ministry, and multilateral funding, and on sponsorships from employers and regional institutions.
How to Apply for Aid
Three steps.

Apply for Admission
Submit your application for admission. The financial information you provide is used to assess need — there is no separate application for need-based grants.

Submit Financial Information
Provide the requested documentation of family income and circumstances. International applicants receive guidance specific to their country.

Review Your Offer
Admitted students receive a financial aid offer alongside their letter of admission, detailing grants, scholarships, and any assistantship awarded.
